I was always the one who put a ton of effort into Christmas -- and I just couldn't divide them up the way I did the books and records, which are in so many ways more important objects to me. M any of them are made by the kids, some are made by him as a kid, me as a kid. I told myself it was because they were in boxes that were too much a pain in the ass to take care of.
